The Packhouses are openwork metal structures reminiscent of the 16th All-Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition held in 1896 in Nizhny Novgorod. Initially, four such structures were built, but only two have survived to this day. After the exhibition, the pavilions were sold in different cities of Russia for potential reuse.
The historical value of the warehouses was recognized only in 2015. In the 20th century, the structures were converted into a port on the Spit of Nizhny Novgorod, where warehouses were builts around them. The historical value of the warehouses was recognized only in 2015 as the metal structures were rediscovered in 2015, during the city's preparations for the World Cup. The warehouses were restored to their historical appearance, and now they have since become a new point of attraction.
The concert hall in the Packhouses is a unique project in Russia. With a panoramic window on the stage, the main attractions during concerts are the views of the Spit, the confluence of the rivers, and the historical part of the city. If necessary, the glass façade can be closed with curtains-partitions. The exhibition warehouse, like the concert one, is made according to the principle of a transformable space.
